5) Remove The Stains
 
If there is a stain on your coat that won’t go away with a brush then use a damp cloth to clean it. Be careful and don’t rub your coat too hard. Don’t use a coat on wool, it’s especially bad for them. If the stain doesn’t go away after gently rubbing it, and the fabric is suede, try to clean it with a rubber. It will work on certain stains.
 
6) Let It Breathe
 
Your coat needs to breathe from time to time. Every week or so hang it out in a place with ample air. This way if your coat has absorbed extra moisture, it will go away.
 
7) Empty The Pockets
 
Hanging the coat with its pockets full will make them sag in the long run. So be sure to empty those pockets after you take it off and then hang it. This will help your coat to maintain its shape.
 
8) Clean Before Storing
 
When the season is over and it is storage time for your coat, be sure to clean it first. You can wash it yourself or get it dry cleaned. This will protect your coat and remove the small of deodorant and smoke, which moths are attracted to.
 
9) Use A Moth Repellant
 
The moth is a coat’s deadliest enemy. There are many types of moth repellants available on the market.
