As much exciting it is to have kids, so is shopping for their clothes and accessories. Sometimes buying fancy or occasion specific clothes can be a little overwhelming. The amount of money that goes into buying the clothes and the tension of matching everything is a little too much. However, you can make your life easier by building a minimalist wardrobe for your child.
This is quite simple, all you need to do is follow a few simple steps and you will be done in a jiffy. The most important thing is to start from the right point and then build your way from there. Here are some step by step tips that will help you build a minimalist wardrobe:
Decide what is required
To create a capsule, it is important that you figure out and decide what you actually need. Start off by evaluating what you already have in the wardrobe and what else is required. A capsule wardrobe is a set of clothes that are staple items. These might include 7 or 8 shirts, 5 to 6 pants, 3 or 4 sweaters, a hat, one jacket and 10 sock pairs. You can start assessing by setting up a separate basket for your kids’ laundry to see how many clothing items they go through in a week.
Organize
Next, sort out all the clothing items by its type, for instance bottoms, tops, fancy clothes etc. Then divide them further into three categories, first would be the ones you will keep for using currently. Second would be the clothes that are bigger in size and that you might use in the future. Lastly, discard the extra things that aren’t in use. This will help you get rid of unwanted clothing items that take too much space in the closet.
Purchase staple items according to a color scheme
Buy bottoms that are neutral in color, easy to maintain, durable and a size larger than your kid’s current size. Depending on the number of pants that your kid uses in a week, purchase the pants accordingly. Most mothers purchase 5 to 6 pants in blue and black tones. Next up you need to buy tops that fit a specific color scheme that you have in mind. A good way to start is by purchasing 7 to 8 tops that aren’t to flashy or trendy. Go for greys, blues and pastel colors that are easy to wash and maintain.
The special items
You need to select these items carefully as they can be expensive and disturb your budget. Do not overspend on them and keep a lighter hand. Select 2 to 4 special outfits that include dresses that your child can occasionally wear and an overcoat. You need to stay away from items that are currently trendy because these items tend to become outdated quickly.
Follow these tips, we are sure that it won’t disrupt your budget and make it easier for you to maintain everything.
