Pets 101: Hair Nightmare
We all love our pets dearly, whether they may be cats, dogs or rabbits. Our furry best friends keep us entertained and felt loved all the time. But do we love everything about our pets?
Common pets like cats and dogs all shed; it is a natural cycle that will recur. But this comes at the expense of our couches, pants and floors. Even worse, we become victims of the unclean and uncomfortable fur trail they leave behind.
So what can we do to stop our pets’ hair from driving us to pull out our own hairs? Here are 4 easy steps:
1) Pet-scape – Groom your pets regularly
Easiest and most effective way to decrease the amount of fur in your house is to stop them from shedding in the first place. Some dogs and cats are not supposed to have their hairs cut, whether for aesthetic or health issues, but they can be regularly brushed to remove dead hairs trapped under their coating. Use a deshedding tool to remove the x`dead undercoat before it ends up on your floor and furnitures.
2) Furniture covers
For some reason, cats and dogs prefer our couches more than the comfortable beds we purchase for them. It is inevitable that they will end up on our favourite spots and leave it ridden with hard-to-remove hairs. Lint-rollers and rubber gloves are definitely a solution, but it can get tedious at times. Thus, having washing-machine friendly covers that can go over your couch, chair, or even parts of your floor (instead of a rug) can save you time and money. Simply wash the covers when hairs are inconspicuously visible and replace with fresh covers.
3) It’s time to let robots do your vacuuming
Are you still vacuuming everyday to keep your house dust bunny and hair free? Its the 21st century, most of us don’t have the time or don’t want to put in the effort to vacuum. Let a robot do it, iRobot’s Roomba Vacuum Cleaning Robot can be turned on once a day to keep your house hair-free! No more vacuuming and mopping. Plus, it’s fun to see your dogs and cats either ride or freak out over it.
4) Lint-Roller vs. Tape
Lint-rollers are convenient ways to remove pet hair off clothes and furnitures because they are friendly to sensitive fabrics. However, these rolls take a toll on our wallets; some clothes need 2 or 3 sheets to completely rid itself of hair and not to mention furnitures.
Use packaging tape: hair seems to stick onto it better than lint rollers and inexpensive. Only downside is that it can damage sensitive fabrics. Just wrap the tape with the non-adhesive side facing inside until the adhesive sides meet and use it just like a lint roller.
