With this winter being the worst one Canada has faced yet since decades, all fashionistas are worried about gearing up for the winter trends. Every time a season changes fashion lovers around the world get excited to set their winter vibes. Big cities like Paris, New York, Milan and London fashion weeks give us major tea on what’s hot and what’s not. However, not all fashion trends can be adapted straight from the runway, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put your own spin on it.
Here are the top 5 winter trends that we will witness in the winter season of 2017-2018:

1. 80’s Sport

What we saw on the runway wasn’t as exaggerated as the style was back in the day. The new take is more sophisticated and refined. Balenciaga, Versace, Topshop were some of the brands that embraced this style and brought it back. Balenciaga specifically had an interesting take on the body con shapes, where they paired a purple silk/satin draped topped with maroon leggings. Speaking of leggings, we think they are shaping up to a big comeback this season as well.

2. Leather

Leather was a hit amongst top designers, while some went for the glam high shine patent leather others went for the soft leather look. Alexander McQueen, Hermes, Tod’s and Valentino showcased their vision with a feminine twist. From pants to short dresses to skirts and boots, these designers went all in. Alexandre Vauthier, Philiosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and Isabel Marant were obsessed with the patent leather. If you are too afraid to follow this trend, because it might be a little too much for you, we suggest you start from the bottom i.e. boots. They also come in handy when it’s a rainy/snowy day as well!

3. Return of The Forties Blue

The light powdery pink shades are currently being replaced by the dusky blue. It is modest, classic and technically goes with everything. Blue is the new black for winter 2017. Designers like Bottega Veneta Celine and Lemaire went for oversized coats and pants whereas Miu Miu went for the classic top with knee length skirts.

4. Puffer Coats and Continental Quilts

We have seen this pop up everywhere; once the weather is cold enough we expect everyone to reach out for this style. We have been such fans of the puffer coats that we cannot even begin to show our excitement. After years of waiting, these are back in trend FINALLY. From metallic jackets to feathery ones, these have made a statement and we would love to see these on the streets. This has to be the most unusual trend that’s making headlines; the ones we enjoyed most were the floral quilted blanket coats.

5. Bedazzled

Winter 2016-2017 was all about minimal look but winter season ’17-’18 is all about glamour. From blinding boots to shiny sequined dresses be prepared for polished looks. We know something is here to stay when our girl RiRi does it. Rihanna was seen wearing blingy boots from Saint Laurent. So we are looking forward to the glamorous nightlife, where people wear crystal mesh dresses along with statement boots.

6. Faux Fur Scarf

We have realized that the most popular trend of the season is to throw a faux fur scarf around one of your shoulders in a vertical manner, and add a thick leather belt above your waist/bellybutton and buckle it on top of the fur scarf
