The wedding is perhaps one of the most important days of one’s life. You want everything to be perfect, starting from your dress, makeup, food, drinks to the overall décor. Many spend months deciding on the right flavor for the wedding cake or place mats for the guest tables. A lot of time and money is devoted in planning one’s dream fairytale wedding. A certain budget that needs to be abided by is what kills most of the people. However, there are several ways, mentioned below, that you can keep your fairytale alive while staying on a set budget.

1. Prioritize

If you are on a budget, it is important to prioritize what you see is the most important for you; for instance, the dress or the music band. This is where pre-planning comes into place. The couple must sit together and decide realistically how they want their wedding day to look like, who they want to invite and where they want to have the wedding. Afterwards, it is important to prioritize all these ideas and efficiently choose which points would consume a big portion of their budget. This will not only help you stay within the budget, but also prevent you from stressing out later on.

2. No open bars

An open bar can cost you a fortune and you may have to cut on budget from other essential things on your agenda. It would be great if you offered guests wine and beer, along with a signature cocktail drink. Garnishes, which are usually offered free of cost by caterers can be added to them such as curled lemons to enhance the drink’s appearance. Also, it will reduce the chance of many guests driving home drunk. So really, you’re just looking out for their safety!

3. Venue

For those who are planning their weddings these days would know that it’s the wedding reception site or venue which mainly consumes almost fifty percent of your budget. Hence, the key is to find a site which is not only beautiful, but also inexpensive. Even better, if you could find one that’s free. For example, either a beach, a garden or even your parent’s house. If you find an inexpensive site for your wedding, you will be left with way more finances to freely decide on other essential items for your wedding.

4. The wedding date

Another way to save money is to plan your wedding off peak days. You can get married between November and March; the weather is also nice in most countries.  This way you do not have to compete for wedding spaces as well. Also, it’s preferable not to get married on Saturdays; Fridays or Sundays are good options as well.

5. Digital invitations

It costs a lot to design, print and dispatch wedding invitations. A great idea would be to create digital invitations. You can find several templates online and if you are creative enough yourself you might not even need the services of a wedding card designer.
