Fold Like a Pro
Ever notice how everything you buy – from t-shirts to bed linens to towels – always looks so enticing on the store shelf, then when you get it home it’s just not the same? The problem could be in your folding technique! Follow these easy tips for folding like a pro and your items will look just as good on your shelf as they did when you bought them.
When it comes to professional folding, we went straight to the expert – Martha Stewart. Some of these are tricky (we know, we tried!), but if you can master these folding techniques, your closets, shelves and washrooms will be the envy of all your friends!
Folding a Fitted Sheet
Simply by their nature, fitted sheets are a pain to fold. Due to the stitched-in curvature (to snuggly fit your mattress), they refuse to lay straight and attempts to fold them typically result in a balled up mess. Fortunately, Martha has a solution. For a perfectly folded fitted sheet that will look perfect on your linen shelf, follow these instructions from marthastewart.com:

Looking for more ways to organize your linen closet like a pro? Check out these tips, again courtesy of marthastewart.com:
-
Slip each of your sheet sets into one of its pillowcases and store by size, with colours, trim, or other defining details clearly visible.
-
Alternatively, fold each set – pillowcases, top and fitted sheets – and wrap with a 1 ½ yard square of fabric; using like colours, coordinate the sets by room or sheet size and shelve together.
-
Group linens according to size and the room they’re used in; space the stacks apart, allowing the linens to breathe and you to find what you need easily.
Folding a T-Shirt
If there’s one retailer who knows the value of a well-folded and well-organized t-shirt collection, it’s Lacoste. Walking into a Lacoste store and viewing the stunning rainbow array of perfectly folded t-shirts makes you want one in every colour. Getting your closet to look like a retail store isn’t as tricky as you may think. For perfectly folded shirts that will make you want to spend more time in your closet, follow these directions from marthastewart.com:
Having problems with this one? So did we! Luckily, Martha has provided both illustrated directions and a video to help you master the process.
