Everyone owns a trusty denim pants that they wear daily which goes with almost every outfit, whether it is for a casual date night or a girls’ day out. However, it gets extremely frustrating if you accidentally drop a bit of coke or some eatable over it, or perhaps have to wash it again and again because it is covered with mud from your last visit to the park. To help you out, below are five easy ways to clean your denim pants and increase their usage:
1. Dip it in vinegar
Your denim pants are like an investment and can last you a long while if you learn how to clean them properly. The biggest fear of a denim pant owner is when the original color of the pants starts to fade away due to excessive washing. Hence, a good idea to prevent this would be to use vinegar. The key is to first add a cup of vinegar, preferably distilled white one, into cold water and then soak your jeans in it. You should keep it in there for about an hour and then hang it to dry. You must not worry about the smell because it definitely goes away when you put the jeans to dry out. Moreover, not everyone has the time for this long process, so adding a cup of vinegar in your washing machine without any detergent can also do the same trick.
2. Dry them correctly
It would be a big mistake to put your jeans inside a clothes dryer, and especially at a high drying temperature. It will cause it to look faded and probably shrink it as well. The best way to dry them is to go by the natural process. Hang them in nice weather, and later perhaps also sprint a little bit of vinegar and cold water mixture over it. However, if you are dealing with a dark shade of denim, remember not to put them out in direct sunlight.
3. Spot cleaning
As you probably have understood by now: excessive washing is not good for your denim pants, hence, a good strategy in this case would be to spot clean it. You can get a stain removing product from your nearest laundry supply store and apply them over the dirty portions of your jeans, with the help of a clean cloth for scrubbing.
4. Reading the labels
You must always read the labels on your jeans before putting them in a washing machine. Some denim pants have embellishments and designs attached on them, which might get ruined if it is washed. Hence, it is a great tip to read on how to clean the pants beforehand.
5. Steam them
You can also steam your denim pants at home. The idea is to hand-hang your jeans on a hanger while you take a hot shower. It is an effective way of cleaning them without destroying the fabric.
