However, once again, Simply Laundry to your rescue! We have a bunch of suggestions to effectively clean your fur coat:

1. Shake it

If you have been wearing a fur coat the entire week, it probably has a lot of dirt and mud settled over it. It may not look dirty, but it may actually be. A good idea is to hold it up from the shoulders and shake it. It would be better if you do it outside or in an open space. Also, you must do this after you take off your coat every day. Afterwards, it is also pertinent that you properly hang it in order to be used again the next day.

2. Cleaning it after a bad weather day

As winter is progressing, soon the first day of snow is not far away. Hence, you must be prepared on how to clean your fur coat if it gets wet during rain or snow. The key is not to use a towel to rub or dab the water, but to shake the coat to get the water over it. Another option would be to dry it in an outdoor area, protected from rain, for at least two days or until it is completely dry.

3. Get the stains off your fur coat

A fur coat owners’ biggest nightmare is when there is a stain over their fur coat. Eeks! It is indeed a hard job to remove any stain, however, with a simple mixture of rubbing alcohol and water on the stain, the job can become much easier. All you need is to wet a piece of clean cloth with alcohol and water, and then use it to clean the stain. Remember to completely dry the fur coat rather than rinsing it at the end.

4. It is time to go to the furrier

The best way to clean a fur coat is to send it to a furrier. He or she is an expert in this field and would be able to restore the coat to its natural beautiful state. You must get your fur coat cleaned by a furrier especially when you have just taken it out of the storage to prevent any sort of yellowing of the fur, and perhaps even a second time during the season. A trip to the furrier may cost you a bit, but it will ensure that your fur coat is properly cleaned for you to use it in the entire winter season.
